The history of the High Voltage Technology and Equipment Group of BME VET dates back to the founding of the High Voltage Laboratory in 1936.

Since its inception, the group has been involved in various aspects of high voltage technology, including:

  • Electrostatics
  • Electrical insulation technology
  • Lightning research and protection
  • Live-line working (LLW)
  • Surge and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) protection
  • Electrical thermal technology
  • Building electrification
  • Lighting technology
  • Electrical switchgear and equipment

In addition to education at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the High Voltage Technology and Equipment Group performs diagnostic, accreditation, and other electrical industry tasks for external partners, as well as research and development activities.

The High Voltage Technology and Equipment Group is currently led byDr. Bálint Németh . The group includes university lecturers, technical experts, and doctoral students (a detailed list of our staff can be found here). The group also provides opportunities for undergraduate and master's students at BME to gradually become involved in its work.
