LLM training

The education of live-line maintenance is performed by the Dr. Béla Csikós Education Center. Besides teaching activities the Education Center is also interested in live-line maintenance (LLM) research. The point of live-line maintenance is that the control, the maintenance and the mounting of installations is possible in the network with the proper technology during normal operational conditions.

The high and the medium voltage training lines, located in the High Voltage Laboratory provide a good opportunity to get to know and practice the whole process of different live-line maintenance methods.

The analysis and the improvement of internationally accepted and used LLM methods are performed in the High Voltage Laboratory.

The Laboratory owns the necessary licenses for all kind of live-line maintenance, ranging from low to high voltage LLM.

Advantages of LLM

Considerable sum of money can be saved with the use of LLM, because electrical devices can operate continuously. It is preventable to turn off certain parts of the network, so the consumers get continuous power supply, and the network is not loaded by unnecessary switching off and on.

The history of LLM

The principles of live-line maintenance were determined in Hungary by Dr. Béla Csikós. In 1967 LLM was introduced in Hungary with locally developed equipment and with a special clothing with conductive threads.

After that live-line maintenance became internationally accepted and generally practiced.

Fire and explosion protection education

The fire and explosion protection of high voltage equipment are essential for safe operation. The effects of high voltage and the high electric field recommend cautious design for safety and safe operation.

The problems related to high voltage fire and explosion protection can be learned within the framework of education about fire and explosion protection by the Group of High Voltage Technology and Equipment.
